The romans worshipped many gods such as Jupiter, the king of all gods, he protected Roman lands. His wife Juno was prayed to by married women, Mars was the god of war, Venus, the goddess of love. Diana was the moon Goddess, she protected little girls and wild animals, Neptune was the god of the sea, he sent earthquakes and terrible storms. Vesta was the goddess of Roman homes, mercury was the messenger of the gods, pan, the god of the mountainside, pastures, sheep and goats. Dis was the god of the underworld and Minerva was the goddess of war. Families made sure to give offerings to the Gods every single day, they usually left items such as food, wine and incense in front of a shrine in their house. Romans were also forced to worship their emperors, this was highly important as the emperors liked to think of themselves as Gods.
